Rise

Great Egrets are hard to miss, with their elegant white feathers, like ghosts dancing in their grassy wetland haunts. This painting is a mix of a technique called monoprinting. I painted part of the background onto a printing plate and then printed that onto my board. The Egret is painted in detail, with a brush, the slow, classical way. There are metallic paints incorporated, which change with the light and angle of view. I named this little painting 'Rise' which can have literal and allegorical meaning.
